Mataguay Scout Camp, July 5th - 10th 2010
This year at Scout Camp we had 7 boys from our troop and 2 boys from the Julian branch.
Scout Camp Highlights:
Tue, Wed, & Thu - 6:30am water dogs, 3 boys participated in all 3 days (Noah, Taylor and Dustin) Tue - Trainers grave hike and ghost story Wed - Jason Mandich, Noah Lewis and Steven Smith won first place in the Triathlon Wed - Brother Heap won first place in the Scout Master Big Splash Contest Wed - Don Jorgensen won first place in the Dragon boat race (we all helped make the boat) Wed - Pirate Rugged O - Boys played in the pool all night and then slept under the stars Wed - Brother Heap and Brother Frandsen learned how to make fire by friction (with 2 sticks)Thu - We all hiked 1 mile and camped under the stars at the indian graveyardFri - Some Families came up to camp for dinnerFri - Closing campfire, Brother Heap was asked to help get the campfire started with his fire by friction skills that he learned earlier in the week.Fri - Closing campfire, Our Troop won the top knot awardOther activities included archery, canoeing, swimming, rock climbing, fishing, mountain boarding and rifle shooting. At the end of the week, our troop won the Mataguay Top Knot award which is awarded to just 1 troop at camp for the week and it is based on camp site inspections. Our 9 boys earned a total of 41 merit badges.
