2010 - Aug - Three Sisters Waterfall

Three Sisters Waterfall Backpacking, August 7th - 8th 2010

On Friday, August 7th, We went backpacking in the Cleavland Nation Forest to the Three Sisters Waterfall. The entire trail is about 2.25 miles with 1000 feet elevation change. We backpacked in a little ways, and then set up camp. On Saturday, we left our backpacks at our camp spot and only took day packs down to the waterfalls. The boys enjoyed playing and splashing around in the waterfalls, jumping off some rocks, and sliding down some really fun water slides. We also made friends with a couple navy guys who were out there hunting wild pig. They let the boys (anyone that wanted) shoot their thirty ought six hunting rifle.

    2010 - May - William Heise Campground

Camp-out at William Heise Campground, May 21-22 2010

On May 21st, the Deacons and 11-year-old scouts went camping at the William Heise Campground in Julian. On Friday Night, we had hot chocolate and dutch oven peach cobbler. We also had a great campfire program put on by Scotty Greer. The campfire program included 2 skits, a "Scout Master minute" and a Spiritual thought.

On Saturday morning, we had more hot chocolate, the boys played in the woods near our campsite and we had breakfast burritos for breakfast (eggs, bacon, potatoes, cheese, salsa). After breakfast we went on a little hike at the campground where we looked for wild life (and signs of wildlife). Then we picked up camp and went to a large field where we played capture the flag and three flies up.

It was a great time, and we did manage to see some deer and wild turkeys on the campout.
